Long trail day today, with long stretches without many views due to trees.  I had a desire to be able to see up Miter Basin to the north, and ended up heading off-trail for a ways just past the Siberian Outpost.  I did get a couple of shots once I got above most of the trees!  We exited Sequoia National Park for the last time in mid-afternoon.

There was no water from Rock Creek to Chicken Spring Lake.  We were relieved to finally reach the lake at the end of the day!  I haven’t been able to find out where the name “Chicken Spring Lake” came from.  We certainly didn’t see any chickens there!

Journal Entry:  Long day on trail, mostly without views.  We did get some views of Mt. Langley and Miter Basin, then Siberian Outpost and Big Whitney Meadow.  Finally arrived at Chicken Spring Lake just before 5pm.  A few others are camped here, but we saw no other hikers on the trail today.  Tomorrow we have 4 miles downhill to the trailhead.
