Today's stop was Skagway, at the north end of the Lynn Canal. We did a short hike uphill from town to Lower Dewey Lake, which was quite peaceful. We then boarded a van for the short ride to Dyea, where the trailhead for the Chilkoot Trail is located. This trail was used by gold seekers in the late 1800's to get to the Yukon Territory. We took a horseback ride here around the town, which has pretty much disappeared. |
