Christchurch Cathedral and Hotel So

Patty flew into Christchurch on February 2.  We didn’t do much that day other than look around downtown Christchurch, and Patty spent some time catching up on sleep after the overnight flight to NZ.  On Feb 3 we went to the International Antarctic Centre, which is near the airport (we used the local bus service to get around).  They offer Hagglund rides through an obstacle course…  those are all-terrain vehicles that are used in Antarctica.  We also viewed the exhibits and saw some blue penguins.  We went on the “behind the scenes” tour also to get a closer look at the penguins!  On Feb 4 we picked up our campervan.

The Christchurch Cathedral is in the center of town.  We were able to walk through the cathedral after returning from the Antarctic Centre.  While in Christchurch, we stayed at Hotel So, a new hotel with a new concept.  The rooms are small but efficient, and ours didn’t have any windows (some rooms do), so it was very quiet and worked well for Patty trying to sleep during the day.
