The
view from Silliman Pass that inspired me in 1992 was a bit hazier today
than back then. We took the short side trips to Beville and
Ranger Lakes. The trail north of Ranger Lake here seems to have
been rerouted slightly since this old map was made, leaving us a bit
confused as to where exactly we were at times. The trail was very
distinct and easy to follow though. We didn't see anyone else
today beyond Ranger Lake.
Journal Entry: Long on-trail day. Short uphill to Silliman Pass, nice views of Great Western Divide, although a bit hazy. Dropped down and visited Beville Lake and Ranger Lake. Then a 5 mile mostly downhill slog to Comanche Meadow. Arrived around 4pm. Clouds moving around all day, nothing threatening. No smoke visible except to the west before Silliman Pass. Tomorrow we head east to Scaffold Meadow.
