Sam Mack Meadow to Second Lake

Easy
day today. We had planned on camping at Third Lake since it is
closer to Contact Pass. After reaching the lake and going off
trail to the side below Contact Pass, we elected to follow the book and
head over to Second Lake to camp for the night in position for Contact
Pass tomorrow.
Journal Entry: Lazy start, hiking at 9:30 for an easy day. Down to main loop trail, then down to Third Lake. Route from there to the bottom of Contact Pass looked rough over large talus, up and down. Decided to camp at Second Lake where the documented route starts. Got a nice campsite in trees between Second and First Lakes with the sounds of the creek between the lakes nearby. Got here around noon. Lots of tents around Second Lake already. Tomorrow Contact Pass!
