Piute Lake to Big Lake slabs

Journal Entry: Got a bit late start around 9am. West Fork Cherry Creek crossing required boots off but bare feet as it was mostly sandy bottom. Uphill to beautiful Gem Lake, then down across some slabs to Buck Meadow Creek. Crossing was also a boots-off affair. Upstream slightly then we took the unmarked trail south toward Big Lake. Lost trail a few times, but mostly followed it to the slabs below Big Lake. We decided to head down the slabs rather than camp at Big Lake. Camping in the trees below the slabs, got here around 4pm. Pure blue sky all day with just very small clouds from time to time. Tomorrow we head down then up Cherry Creek Canyon, hopefully to Huckleberry Lake!
