Mt. Goddard and the Ionian Basin 2001

Start of this year’s off-trail hike—this year it’s just Ron & me.  Arrived at Courtright Reservoir yesterday and camped at Marmot Rock campground.  Nice walk-in sites by the lake.  This morning we started at Maxson Meadows trailhead around 8:30.  Nice trail, little uphill to 8800 feet or so, then down.  Made it all the way to N. Fork Kings as planned, though Ron didn’t think he would be able to.  10½ miles or so.  Camped by the river at 8000 feet.  Tomorrow we head up river, then out of the river canyon.  We’ll see how far we get.  (Got to camp today around 4pm).
