Mt. Goddard and the Ionian Basin 2001

Warm night last night—only 50F.  Got on the trail 8:30 or so.  Long gradual hike up the N. Fork Kings.  Yesterday we had lots of thin clouds—but no clouds at all today.  About 4 miles from camp we were to come to a trail junction, which we missed and hiked another ½ mile before stopping to check.  GPS verified that we had gone too far.  Trail up to Bench Valley fairly faint, depended a lot on blazes and ducks.  Made it to McGuire Lakes around 4:30 and set up camp.  This is a few miles short of original plan, at Twin Buck Lakes.
