Mt. Goddard and the Ionian Basin 2001

Another warm night—50F.  On the trail at 8am.  Went past a long sequence of lakes on our way to Gunsight Pass.  Trail ended at Filly Lake.  Gunsight Pass is at 11,600 feet, long uphill climb, getting to pass around 1:30.  There was a small lake at the pass, and we could see Confusion Lake, also on the divide.  The downhill was on talus, long and tiring.  We decided to camp about 200 feet below Martha Lake in some trees.  Not too many trees around here.  Tomorrow we’ll head over the next pass to Ionian Basin, hopefully to a lake where we’ll climb Mt. Goddard from.
