Patagonia & Antarctica 2011

Saturday:  Neko Harbor, Foyn Harbor

Today we had our second continental landing at Neko Harbor, west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula.  This was an area where calving glaciers and resulting tidal waves are fairly common, the beach here had ice washed up on shore due to these waves.  There were gentoo penguins here, and we were able to hike up to a view point above the harbor.

Later in the day, we had a zodiac cruise around Foyn Harbor.  Here there was some old whaling remnants, including a wrecked Norwegian ship that caught fire and is left partially submerged since 1915.
