Today was more uphill, from 7800 to 10500 feet elevation. Most of the day was on-trail, with the last bit contouring over to Grouse Lake. Saw a few people on the trail, and two others camped at Grouse Lake.
Journal Entry: Relaxed start this morning—on the trail around 9:30. Uphill climb, with expanding views of Gardiner, Cotter, and Clarence King. Left the trail after enjoying tree-blocked views of Granite Basin. Easy off-trail to Grouse Lake, got here around 4:00. We can see the first pass for tomorrow across the lake. Tomorrow is a longer day; we’ll try to get an earlier start! |
